How it works

• We use only the youngest, highest-lawsone leaves from the upper canopy of the henna plant for maximum natural pigment.

• A proprietary plant-based supplement enhances the henna’s color yield far beyond what pure henna can achieve on its own.

• Finally, we add the smallest effective amount of synthetic color precursors needed to reach true, vibrant shades and excellent gray coverage.

The result: a formula that is 80–85% plant-derived and 100% permanent, with dramatically less synthetic dye content than conventional box dyes.

Yes — our formula does contain a very small amount of PPD and related compounds (far less than traditional oxidative dyes). For many people with mild to moderate sensitivity, this reduced level is tolerated very well and finally lets them enjoy rich, predictable color again. However, PPD can cause serious allergic reactions in some individuals, even in tiny amounts. If you have ever had a strong reaction to hair dye, or if you know you are highly sensitive/allergic to PPD:

Please perform a patch/sensitivity test 48 hours before full application. Full instructions are included in every box (and below). We never want you to take unnecessary risks. Patch Test Instructions for FUEL THE ARMY® – Water-Activated Dye

Because our dye is activated simply with water (no peroxide or separate developer), the allergy test is quick and easy to prepare—but it is still absolutely mandatory if you have ever reacted to hair dye or are sensitive to PPD.

When to test
Perform this test every time you buy a new package, at least 48 hours before coloring your hair.

What you’ll need

• A small amount of the actual powder you will use

• Clean water (room temperature or slightly warm)

• A small non-metallic bowl or cup

• Cotton swab or clean brush

• Mild soap and water

Step-by-step

1. Choose a small test area: the inside bend of your elbow or behind your ear. Clean it with mild soap and water, then pat dry.

2. In a small non-metallic bowl, mix ½ teaspoon of the dye powder with just enough water to make a creamy paste (same consistency you would use on your hair).

3. Using a cotton swab or brush, apply a dime-sized amount of the prepared paste to the clean test area.

4. Let the paste dry naturally (10–20 minutes). Once dry, you may leave it uncovered or loosely cover with a breathable bandage. Do not seal it airtight.

5. Leave the test spot untouched and dry for a full 48 hours.
   → Do not wash the area
   → Avoid sweating heavily or getting it wet

6. After 48 hours, gently wash the area with mild soap and water.

What to watch for
Stop immediately and do NOT use the product if you notice any of these signs at the test site, even if mild:

• redness

• itching

• burning or stinging

• swelling

• rash, bumps, or blisters

• any discomfort whatsoever

If the area looks completely normal after 48 hours → the test is negative, and you may proceed with full application.

Extra note for highly sensitive individuals
Even though our formula contains far less PPD than conventional dyes, a true allergy can still react to very small amounts. When in doubt, consult a dermatologist or allergist before use.

Your safety comes first — we’d rather you wait 48 hours than risk a reaction.
